It’s been a bit of a burger odyssey for me of late. Cool huh? How could I resist then (being somewhat of a burger gourmet these days) when the folks at Burger Trip invited me along for dinner?
As I said, for those of you familiar with my blog, you’ll know I’ve sampled a few Gold Coast burger faves of late. Plus I make a mean burger at home (one of my secrets is pickle relish… if you haven’t tried, it, do!). So yes, I know my way around a burger and sides.
So why is Burger Trip different? Because you can build your own burger, and they do it right at your table.
Tavis, the owner of Burger Trip, has a passion for travel which you can clearly see on the walls of his restaurant. He owns another successful restaurant in Greece, and really wanted to take people’s taste buds on a trip with his burger restaurant (hence the name).
But how to do that and stand out from the crowd? With the Burger Tube (cue: dramatic music). Actually here’s a link to the tube video if the written word lacked drama for you (it’s had nearly 20,000 views).
The team from Burger Trip brings a fresh bun, your choice of protein (house made patties), sides and sauces to your table. Along with a big metal tube. They build your burger, stick a knife in it, and leave you to salivate over, then devour your creation (it’s aliiiive!).
On this occasion we brought our kids with us (are we nuts? Maybe…). They both had the Stazi Cheese Slider with melted cheese, chips and drink ($10). One of our kids likes chips, the other one burgers (*eye roll*). Either way, the burgers were a good size for the kids, fresh, hot chips, tasty pattie and fresh bun. Overall, a good kids burger.
Burger Trip does have a range of burgers you can choose from if you find the tube a little big, but when in Rome…
Have the tube: I had pretty much every topping, and so did he ($20). A lovely fresh, bun, tasty house made pattie, house made sauces, fresh ingredients, and all made in front of me. One of the highlights for both of us was the chunky battered and fried onion ring served atop our salad fillings. Yummo.
So here is Sime’s burger:
And here’s some of what you get to choose from with the Tube:
So overall we really enjoyed our burgers (as you can see from the pictures, they were very tasty). I’m a sauce queen so I love the opportunity to customise and go sauce crazy. Plus the chips were hot, crispy and freshly cooked.
We both recommend you take a trip to Burger Trip soon, and ask for the Tube (dude)!
